ALTAR SOCIETY

They are
to serve as the Temple caretakers. . .
and to doing maintenance work and helping the people . . . (Ezechiel
44:14)
Under
the leadership of its longtime chairperson, the members of the Altar
Society at Our Lady of Refuge care for altar linens and vestments,
restock envelopes in pew pockets, and maintain the cleanliness of our
shrines, polished surfaces and holy water stoups.
Their work at church is done principally
on Fridays, after the 8:00 a.m. Mass.
A small contingent also assists on Monday mornings to tidy up
after weekend Masses. Our parish custodian handles major tasks, such as
cleaning floors and restrooms, but Altar Society members are called upon
a few times a year for such tasks as placing new missalettes and hymnals
in pew pockets.
