CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD

But Jesus said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these."  (Matthew 19:14)

Every Sunday morning during the 9:30 Mass at Our Lady of Refuge, children aged 5 through 12 are invited to participate in a dismissal session for their own special Liturgy of the Word. Accompanied by two or three Children’s Liturgy Ministers, the younger children (5-8) process to the sacristy.  Additional Ministers lead the older children (9-12) to the eighth grade classroom. In both places, the children listen to God’s Word proclaimed in a version appropriate to their ages and understanding. Next, they share their thoughts through an interactive homily conducted by one of the Team members, and join together to profess the Creed.  

Then, accompanied by their Ministers, all of the children rejoin the adult assembly in time for the Preparation of the Gifts.
