OUTREACH MINISTRIES
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (Matthew 28:19-20)Outreach ministries focus on bringing the Good News
to people outside of and beyond the parish community. It
is a response to Jesus' example of caring for the poor, needy and
forgotten, and obeying His command to reach out lovingly
to all people everywhere. The principal outreach ministries in Our Lady of Refuge Parish are: Foreign Mission Outreach - works for the poor in other countries, particularly Mexico. Blood Drive - helps the sick in local hospitals and clinics through blood donation drives Convalescent Homes - brings joy and friendship to elderly and infirm people in nursing and convalescent homes Prisons - brings the Good News of salvation to men, women and youth confined in prisons Respect for Life - works to protect the human rights of all persons, especially the most vulnerable members of our society - the unborn and the elderly Homeless - visits and brings hope to people who are homeless and "on the street". Some people are called to intensive outreach missionary work, giving months or even years of their lives to helping Christ's poor and needy - in the United States or abroad. There are numerous opportunities available for lay people in today's Church. For more information, click on the following link: Lay Missionaries - Opportunities
