Special Events
The Prayer Group - An Extended Family
Over time, people within the Prayer Group have
become very close to each other.
It is one of many “extended families” in our parish
which have been formed through sharing and involvement in ministry. 
The Prayer Group "family" has a prayer chain. When
there is a request, members are contacted by e-mail and phone and
are asked to pray for the intentions of those in need. Members have
also gone to homes and prayed with sick parishioners and
their families.
Several times each year, Prayer Group members bring their
families, friends and neighbors to join in a special Mass and
potluck meal. (See the photo at left.) This is a time to strengthen bonds of friendship through
the Eucharist and the pleasure of sharing conversation and a meal
together.
Special Activities
In addition to the weekly prayer meeting, members of the ministry
sponsor and participate in other events for the parish, local
community and archdiocese.
Workshops and Healing Masses
The prayer group also sponsors workshops on topics relating to
spiritual growth and development. Father Bill Delaney, SJ of SCRC (Southern California Renewal
Communities) is shown at right during a workshop presentation.
SCRC Workshops and the Annual SCRC Convention
Each year members of the Prayer Group participate in
events sponsored by SCRC (the Southern California Renewal

also join with Catholics from Southern
California and other parts of the nation and world for the Annual SCRC
Convention. The event draws about 16,000 participants to the
Anaheim Convention Center, and is usually held over Labor Day
weekend.

The next SCRC Convention will be
held on Labor Day weekend, 2008.
