I always wanted to be a Sister since second grade.  I would go home from school and play school, with a scarf tied on my head, to be like the Sisters who taught me – the Sisters of St. Louis, King of France.  My teachers were:

The principal at that time was Sister Mary Calista.

I belonged to the sodality in 7th and 8th grade and was picked to crown Our Lady in the month of May.  I also received Confirmation that year.  All these events were moments of grace for me and I asked God to show me what He wanted me to do.

My brother, Michael, and I would not be going to St. Anthony’s in Long Beach, but to Huntington Beach High.  When we went to look at the school, I just knew I would not be there.

That summer my brother went to a camp run by the Salesian Priests and Brothers.  He returned home with an invitation for a girl’s retreat.  I attend it and found out I could start studying to be a Sister right after 8th grade.  So I attended high school with a number of other girls who wanted to become Sisters.  Eventually I became a postulant and a novice in New Jersey.  As a Salesian Sister I have taught in many different grammar schools in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Louisiana and California.

St. John Bosco, our founder, had a method of education based on reason, religion and loving-kindness.  We work among the young people, creating a family atmosphere in our schools, religious education programs, youth centers and summer camps.
