Retire
ment
Fund for Archdiocesan Priests
Next weekend, May 17-18, all parishioners throughout our Archdiocese
will be asked to give generously to support the Retirement Fund for
Archdiocesan Priests via a special collection. Currently the fund
provides for 149 priests who are retired. Over the next ten years, the
number of priests who will reach retirement age will number 358. All of
these individuals have committed their lives to serve the spiritual
needs of our parish communities. We, in turn, owe it to them to assure
that they do not have to worry about their retirement years. Envelopes
are provided in the pews.

Training For New Altar Servers
and for Sunday Servers
Training will take place during June. All Catholic boys and girls who
have received first Holy Communion and are entering 4th Grade & up (in
Public or Catholic school) as of September, 2008, are eligible.
Just as young people gain various skills by participating in sports,
music and scholastic activities, they also benefit from serving
God and assisting their fellow parishioners at Mass. This essential
ministry enables participants to learn about the liturgy and grow in
responsibility. Our parish really counts on them! Please encourage and
support your son/daughter in becoming an Altar Server. Sign-up forms
will be available next week at church and through the School and
Religious Education office. For more info, please phone Mary Eaton,
562-597-3102. To learn more about the ministry of an altar server,

Laundry Skills
Do you have some time to help with light laundering and ironing of our
altar linens? This would require approximately one hour a week of your
time. Please call Mary Powell or Fr. Bill at the church office,
562-498-6641.
Mother’s Day Novena
The Novena begins today. A novena of nine Masses will be offered for all
moms (living or deceased), whose names are included in the novena. You
can enroll your mother by completing the envelope provided in the pews
and leaving it at the church office as soon as possible. If your mom is
living and you would like to give her a card, they are available in the
church vestibules.

cafeteria. Volunteers are needed at 11:30 am. Please bring a dish to
share. Questions? Call Roberta Orkin at 562-597-2240. To
