Dear Father Gerard,
Delco and I were so saddened to hear of Father Bill's passing. Saddened in one respect but so elated to know that he is now with our Heavenly Father, and free if any discomfort he may have experienced.
We have so much history with Father Bill. He was such a warm, caring, loving servant of God and we are so thankful for him being in our lives for so many years.
He performed the ceremony of our wedding vow renewal almost 19 years ago, (our 40th) just to give one example. He also said mass for our deceased Son, Jeffrey, while he was in Ireland, on vacation, for the celebration of the anniversary of the death of our Son in August one year.
We are also very grateful to have you as our Pastor, Father Gerard. You are the perfect successor to Father Bill. Your warm, caring, loving and genuine approach to your parishioners is just what Our Lady of Refuge has needed.
We hope you will remain here in our Parish for many years to come.
